The new rethought interior design solution transformed the Science Live rooms into adaptable research spaces, designed to encourage focus, while staying welcoming, to test subjects of all ages and from all backgrounds.

A Space that invites visitors to focus
MAST created a calm atmosphere that contrasts with the museum’s identity. The colour palette transitions from the space's bold identity of orange steel beams and raw metal ceilings to softer accents in the rooms, then into calming tones of orange, red, beige and blue. These materials help create a focused, essential tool for conducting research with visitors. Finally, to set the tone for the visitors, MAST designed graphic posters highlighting specific researchers and offering a look into their work. Mounted with clamps for easy replacement, these posters add dimension and flexibility to the space.

Rooms with many purposes
To reach maximum flexibility, the space is divided into two distinct rooms, allowing the researcher to perform different types of work. One room features couches and curtained-off areas for individual interviews in a private and comfortable setting. The second, more spacious room, allows for different uses such as group discussions and lectures.

Modular space for the perfect research conditions
MAST took special care to make the whole space as adaptable as possible. Acoustic comfort is achieved with sound-absorbing floor finishes and more than 100 acoustic panels placed on the walls. All tables and chairs are adjustable, while the curtains allow each room to be reconfigured in size and layout to suit different research needs.
